Varicocele

The most common condition in young men — and one of the most treatable causes of delayed conception.

“Is it urgent?”

A varicocele isn't life-threatening, but it can affect the analysis and hormones over time. Three signs call for a check: a dull ache that worsens on standing, a poor analysis, or one testicle smaller than the other. The repair is microsurgical through a small incision, and recovery takes days, not weeks.

What it is

Dilated veins in the scrotum, usually on the left. Very common — about 15% of men, and a higher share of those with delayed conception.

When surgery is needed

Not every varicocele needs surgery. It is repaired when it comes with a poor analysis and delayed conception, persistent pain, or testicular shrinkage in young men. Otherwise: follow-up.

Microsurgical repair

A small incision in the lower abdomen under the operating microscope to preserve arteries and lymphatics. Day surgery, back to desk work within days, sport in two to three weeks.

What happens after

Analysis at three months, then six. Count and motility improve in most patients — not all — and that is said before surgery, not after.

Common questions

Is the surgery painful?

Mild pain for a few days, controlled with simple painkillers. Most men are back to normal within a week.

I'm getting married — should I get checked now?

If there is pain or a size difference, yes. The check is simple and needs no phone call: send a WhatsApp message and book.
