Before marriage: what a groom needs to know

Stress, the honeymoon, premature ejaculation, varicocele — no exaggeration, no myths.

The honeymoon and stress

Erectile difficulty in the first days is very common and usually caused by stress, not disease. It improves with time and calm. If it persists for weeks, one consultation settles it — and do not take pharmacy tablets without a prescription.

Premature ejaculation

It affects one in three men at some point and usually has nothing to do with erection. Treatment combines pelvic-floor exercises, sometimes medication, and shared understanding with your wife. A consultation before marriage saves months of anxiety.

When to check for varicocele

If there is a dull ache that worsens on standing, or a clear size difference between the testicles — get checked before marriage. Varicocele is the most common treatable cause of delayed conception, and early repair is easier.

Myths worth forgetting

  • “Penile lengthening surgery” — most don't deliver and some cause harm.
  • “Viagra damages the heart” — no, but it interacts with some cardiac drugs.
  • “Excessive porn has no effect” — it blunts the natural response in many men.
  • “Pre-marital checks are for women only” — a semen analysis is the simplest and most useful check.

Common questions

Do I need a check before marriage if I have no symptoms?

One semen analysis is enough for most men. Add a clinical examination if there is pain or a size difference.
