Male infertility

Half of delayed conception has a male side. A full work-up, plain numbers, and surgery only when it changes the outcome.

“Is it my fault?”

It isn't about blame; it's about the analysis. Low count, poor motility or zero sperm have causes, many of them treatable: varicocele, obstruction, hormones, or cases where sperm is retrieved directly from the testicle. Many couples go through failed IVF cycles without the husband ever being properly examined.

When to get checked

After a year of trying without result — or earlier if there is a varicocele, a previous poor analysis or a failed IVF cycle. The first work-up is simple: semen analysis, examination and hormones.

What can be treated

Varicocele (the most common), ductal obstruction, hormonal imbalance and infections. In azoospermia (zero sperm) it is often possible to retrieve sperm microsurgically from the testicle for ICSI.

The couple together

In male infertility the decision belongs to two people. Your partner is welcome in the consultation, and the report goes to the treating fertility doctor within 48 hours.

Plain numbers

What improves, by how much, and when — and what surgery doesn't change. Improvement after varicocele repair takes three to six months. No promises, no credential-dropping.

Common questions

Do I need IVF or surgery?

It depends on the cause. Sometimes varicocele repair raises the analysis to natural-pregnancy range; sometimes ICSI is faster. The answer comes after analysis and examination, not before.

The analysis says zero — is it over?

No. In a large share of zero-sperm cases sperm exists inside the testicle and can be retrieved microsurgically. This is exactly what Dr. Rabea trained in at McGill.

Can I send my analysis before the appointment?

Yes — send it on the clinic WhatsApp in full confidence so the doctor reviews it before the consultation.
